San Antonio FC Forward Tani Oluwaseyi Named USL Championship Player of the Week

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC forward Tani Oluwaseyi has been named the USL Championship Team of the Week, and joins midfielder Jorge Hernandez, defender Mitchell Taintor and goalkeeper Jordan Farr on the league's Team of the Week. The group accounted for four goals, two assists and a clean in sheet in Friday's 4-0 win at Memphis 901 FC.

Oluwaseyi recorded his second hat trick of the year in the win, becoming the first player in club history to notch multiple hat tricks in a season. All three goals came in the first half, and moved the MLS loanee's season total to nine - just one score shy of the league lead. Oluwaseyi has now made a Team of the Week appearance three times this season, after joining the squad in May.

This is the second time this season an SAFC player has earned Player of the Week honors, after Farr accomplished the feat in March.

Hernandez finds himself on the weekly list for the first time this season, after assisting on two of Oluwaseyi's goals and scoring one himself. Hernandez's goal was his second in as many matches, and came after dribbling around three defenders in a score that earned a nomination for the league's fan-voted goal of the week award.

Taintor's third appearance on the Team of the Week comes after contributing to the team's fourth shutout of the season, making five interceptions and two clearances in the win. Taintor won four of six duels, and created two chances as well.

Lastly, Farr earned a spot on the Team of the Week bench after a dominant six-save performance to earn the clean sheet. The six saves matched a season high for the Reigning goalkeeper of the Year, giving him his fourth clean sheet of the year.

Four players on the Team of the Week at the same time is a season-best for SAFC, with a player from each position represented.

SAFC is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to El Paso for a Copa Tejas clash against Locomotive FC. Kickoff from Southwest University Park is set for 8:00 p.m. CT, and can be streamed on ESPN+.
