Samuel Deduno Activated off Disabled List, Brandon Boggs Released

(Rochester, NY ) - Right-handed pitcher Samuel Deduno has been activated off the Red Wings disabled list and will start on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. in the series finale against the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park in Columbus, OH. To make room for Deduno on the Red Wings 25-man roster, outfielder Brandon Boggs was released following Rochester's 8-2 win Saturday night.

Deduno, who missed the first 29 games of the season with a groin strain, made nine starts with Rochester at the beginning of the 2012 season going 1-2 with a 2.14 ERA (10 ER/42.0 IP) before having his contract selected by Minnesota on July 6. Deduno finished the season with the Twins going 6-5 with a 4.44 ERA (39 ER/79.0 IP) in 15 starts.

The 29-year-old shined in the 2013 World Baseball Classic posting a 2-0 record with a 0.69 ERA (1 ER/13.0 IP). The right-hander earned the win in the WBC championship game against Puerto Rico allowing just two hits over five scoreless innings.

Boggs was released after hitting .184 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in 21 games for the Red Wings.
