Brockton, Mass. -- Rox starter Mike Wlodarczyk was splendid, allowing one run on seven hits in seven innings of work, as Brockton finished the three-game sweep of the Worcester Tornadoes with a 2-1 victory in a Can-Am League contest on Sunday afternoon at Campanelli Stadium.

The win marked the sixth consecutive victory for the Rox. Pitching has been the strong suit during the streak, as the Rox have not allowed more than three runs during any of the six victories.

Brockton (13-9) drew first blood with a run in the fifth inning; after C Chris Grossman led off the frame with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice by SS Dominic Ramos, CF Chris Valencia flied out to left, but Grossman was able to score on 1B Melvin Falu's two-out RBI single. The Rox then tacked on another tally in the sixth when DH Clyde Williams walked, stole second, and came home on Grossman's double.

It was enough offense for Wlodarczyk (3-1), who fanned nine while walking just one for his third win of the season. Worcester's only run came in the seventh, when Rox nemesis CF Eric Asadoorian tripled with two outs and scored on a double by 1B Gordie Gronkowski.

Hunter Davis came in to relieve Wlodarczyk to start the eighth, and retired all six batters he faced on a total of twelve pitches for his first save for Brockton.

Matt McDonald (1-1) took the loss for the Tornadoes (8-14), giving up two runs on six hits, fanning four.

Falu and Grossman had solid days at the plate for the Rox, both getting a pair of hits. Gronkowski went 2-for-2 on the Worcester side.

The Rox look to continue their winning streak on Monday when they start a three-game series at Pittsfield on Monday evening. In a rematch of last Wednesday's mound opponents, Freddy Flores (2-0) takes on the Colonials' Miguel Flores (1-2) at 7:05 p.m.
