Pittsfield Colonials News Release

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials held onto a 4-3 lead and left the tying run at third base for the Sussex Skyhawks to beat Sussex and take the series two-games-to-one on Father's Day.

First baseman Jerod Edmondson's (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Colonials a 4-1 lead proved valuable, as the Skyhawks were able to score twice in the top on the ninth before Pittsfield could deaden the rally. Right fielder Dan Carte's (1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) two-RBI double in the first inning put Pittsfield ahead early and eventually for the duration of the game.

Colonials' starter Kyle Zaleksi (2-1) earned the win over seven innings allowing one run on four hits, one walk, and two strike outs. Reliever Patrick Moran (1) earned his first professional save, pitching Pittsfield through a bases-loaded, no outs jam in the ninth.

Sussex starter Jusef Frias (1-1) suffered the loss going the full eight innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on ten hits, one walk, and four strike-outs. Skyhawks' Kyle Binick (0-for-4, SAC, RBI), Caleb Stewart (1-for-3, RBI), and Nick Giarraputo (1-for-3, RBI) collected the RBIs for the visitors.

The Colonials will continue their six game home-stand when they open up a three game series with the Brockton Rox on Monday night. Right hander Miguel Flores (1-2) is schedule to make his fifth start of the season for the Colonials against Brockton's Freddy Flores (2-0).
