High Desert Mavericks News Release
The Salvation Army has always been a leader in the non-profit sector, and the Mavericks are stepping up to the plate on Saturday, July 17th to help them raise money for their local programs and bring awareness to the mission of the organization. Not only will the Salvation Army have a significant presence at the game, but the Mavericks will also have a spectacular postgame fireworks show! Typically, the Mavericks seek out sponsorship of their fireworks nights to help defray the cost and provide advertising opportunities to local companies. However, the Mavs front office decided to reserve one of their seven Fireworks Nights during the 2010 season specifically for the Salvation Army so as to bring the most recognition possible to its causes, its volunteers, and its programs.
"The Salvation Army does so much good for our High Desert community so we're giving them the royal treatment," stated Mavericks GM, Tim Altier. "They'll enjoy the extensive coverage that a for-profit fireworks sponsor would get so you'll see their reps at the front gate, throwing out the first pitch, on the P.A. announcements. They're even bringing the recent High Desert Idol winners for the National Anthem and God Bless America. It's going to be a fantastic night for the Salvation Army and the fans in attendance."
If you'd like to support the Salvation Army, make sure to buy your tickets at Victorville Motors before July 17th since one-third of the proceeds will go back to the organization. Also, check your latest water bill for a ticket offer from the Mavs. Make sure to bring some loose change for the famous Salvation Army kettle, which will be at the front gate!
