Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
LINCOLN, NE - The game between the Lincoln Saltdogs and the Wichita Wingnuts on Friday was suspended due to rain in the middle of the third inning. The game will be resumed on Saturday at 4:35pm, at Haymarket Park.
The two teams will resume play tied at one, with Wichita having scored a run in the first and Lincoln having answered with a run in the second. The top of the second inning was interrupted by a rain delay of an hours and 48 minutes, and a second wave of heavy showers forced the umpires to suspend play as soon as the top of the third was completed. Saltdogs starter Jonathan Figueroa stayed in the game after the initial rain delay, pitching three innings. Wingnuts starter Adam Cowart departed after the rain delay, having pitched one inning, and reliever Richard Salazar pitched the second inning. Lincoln has yet to come to the plate in the third.
The suspended game will be completed as a nine-inning contest. After a half-hour break, the two teams will play their regularly scheduled Saturday game as a seven-inning contest.
