
Explorers Defeat Saints

Sioux City.....The Sioux City Explorers exploded for six runs in the third inning as they defeated St. Paul 8-4 Friday before 4021, the largest crowd of the season at Lewis and Clark Park.
The Explorers took advantage of four walks along with three hits in the six-run third inning. James Boone and Justin Toole both had two RBI's in the inning in the victory. Toole led the nine-hit Explorers attack with three hits along with the two RBI's.
St. Paul closed the gap at 6-4 in the fifth inning on a grand slam home run by Jacob Butler.
Sioux City added two insurance runs in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Justin Nelson and a wild pitch.
Steve Spurgeon picked up the win for the X's, breaking a three-game losing streak for the right hander.
The Explorers and St. Paul will meet again Saturday at 7:05pm with fireworks after the game at Lewis and Clark Park.
