Pensacola Pelicans News Release
SITE: LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX (July 3-5, 2009)
TIME: 7:05 p.m. Central Time on Friday and Saturday; 6:05 p.m. on Sunday
ABOUT THE SERIES:
The Pensacola Pelicans and Fort Worth Cats will play each other for the fourth time on Friday. The previous three games were played June 8-10 and saw the Cats score 23 runs en route to a series sweep. The first-half winners currently boast a record of 30-15. These games are still meaningful, however, as the team with the best full-season record will play Fort Worth if the Cats clinch the second-half as well. Currently Pensacola is tied with Grand Prairie for second-place at 21-24.
Pensacola is coming off a series loss to the Sioux Falls Canaries, dropping the first two games before rallying to win on Thursday by a 7-3 final. The Pelicans went on a tear at the end of June, winning eight out of 12 games at one point. Currently the Pelicans have won five of their last ten.
Fort Worth has been playing the last four games against the Shreveport-Bossier Captains, winning just one. On June 29, the Captains claimed victory 7-2, but the Cats came back on Tuesday to win 10-5. The first day of July saw the Captains win 4-2, and the Swashbucklers took the series on Thursday with a 4-3 win.
