Single game tickets for the 2006 season of Lincoln Saltdogs baseball go on sale Saturday, April 22 beginning at 9 a.m. Tickets are available for purchase at the Haymarket Park box office or by calling (402) 474-BALL (2255). New this year, tickets can be purchased online at www.saltdogs.com. Group and season ticket information is also available.
The 48-game regular season home schedule begins Tuesday, May 23 with a three-game series against Sioux City followed by a three-game set with Sioux Falls. Ticket prices are $10 for field level seats, $8 for upper level and $5 for berm seating. It is the fourth consecutive season that the cost of tickets to Saltdogs games at Haymarket Park have remain unchanged. Excluding Sundays, the start time for home games is 7:05 p.m.
The 2006 season will be the Saltdogs first in the newly formed American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. Joining Lincoln in the league are former Northern League rivals Sioux City, Sioux Falls and St. Paul. The remainder of the American Association is made up of former Central League teams from Pensacola, Shreveport, Ft. Worth, El Paso and Coastal Bend (Corpus Christi, Texas) with St. Joseph (Mo.) playing its inaugural season.
A full slate of promotions has been scheduled for each home game. Among the acts on tap to appear at Haymarket Park include Harry Caray, Reggy "The Purple Party Dude", The Blues Brothers, the Zooperstars and Jimmy Buffet Night featuring Tom Watt. Plus, there will also be fireworks and other nightly promotions throughout the summer.
The Saltdogs are coming off of a 52-44 season in 2005 in which they made the Northern League playoffs. Lincoln finished fourth in the league in home attendance with 207,744 fans coming through the turnstiles for an average of 4,328 per night. It marked the fifth consecutive season the Saltdogs topped the 200,000 mark in total attendance.
