Salt Lake (27-7) stung Isotopes starting pitcher Dallas Trahern for four runs as the Bees defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes (18-16) 4-2, Friday night at Frank Covey Field. Isotopes right fielder Andrew Beattie extended his team-high eleven game hitting streak when he smashed a solo home run in the seventh.

Salt Lake jumped to an early lead in the third when catcher Ryan Budde tripled to right past a diving Beattie. With the ‘Topes infield in Ryan Patchett slapped a the ball past a leaping Trahern, luckily shortstop Chris Barnwell made it to the ground ball but his only play was to first to get the out, that allowed Patchett to score the first run of the game, 1-0.

Salt Lake starter Kasey Olenberger retired the first 17 Isotopes batters, six by strikeouts, but his attempt for a no-hitter ended on a ground ball single up the middle by Barnwell in the sixth.

Kendry Morales started the sixth when he hit a one-out line drive double to right-center field. Matthew Brown immediately followed Morales with a crushed two-run blast over the right-center field fence to extend the Bees' advantage, 4-0.

Beattie lead off the seventh for the ‘Topes as he hit a dinger over the centerfield fence for the first run of the game for the Isotopes. Then two outs later, Dallas McPherson clouted a moon shot solo blast off the batter's eye deep above the 420 foot sign in center field to narrow the Bees lead to 4-2.

Steve Woodard gave the Isotopes a chance; Woodard retired the first six Salt Lake hitters he faced and pitched two and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief.
