Salt Lake Bees News Release

All nine members of the Bees starting lineup had at least one hit, as Salt Lake rolled to a 9-5 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Thursday night. The Bees trailed 2-1 in the second when they scored five runs to take control of the game. Paul McAnulty led off with a walk and Adam Heether singled. Both runners advanced on a balk and scored on a two-run double into the right field corner by Robinzon Diaz. Doug Deeds walked and Matt Long followed with a single to drive in Diaz. One out later, Luis Jimenez closed out the scoring with a two-run single to make it 6-2. Efren Navarro and McAnulty opened up the third inning with back-to-back home runs to make it 8-2.

Matt Shoemaker (6-7) picked up the win, as he went six innings and allowed five runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Francisco Rodriguez and Ryan Brasier closed out the game by retiring all nine batters they faced. Diaz led the Bees with two hits and two runs batted in, while Long added two hits and one RBI.

"It was a good team win," said Bees Manager Keith Johnson. "When you can jump on a team early and put up some runs early it is a good thing. Shoemaker had the second inning where he gave up a couple runs and then he kinda settled down after that. He did a good job of grinding through it."
