
Salem Tops Lynchburg In Series Opener

Salem edged Lynchburg 3-2 with three unanswered runs on Friday night at Memorial Ballpark. The second of four games in a row between the teams is on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. back in Salem. Tune-in to all the live action beginning at 5:40 p.m. on FM 105.5 KD Country.
Lynchburg scored the first two runs in the ballgame in the bottom of the second inning. A wild pitch plated the first run and a ground out by Jose De Los Santos made it 2-0 Lynchburg.
Salem responded with a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Zach Borowiak to cut the Cats lead in half.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Brad Correll drove-in the tying run with a ground out. The former Hillcat knotted up the game at two with the RBI.
The scored stayed tied until the seventh inning when Mike Jones singled in a third run for the Red Sox to give them a 3-2 advantage.
That would prove to be the final as starter Bryan Morris (4-9) took the loss for Lynchburg (27-30, 73-64), despite matching his career-high with 6 and 2/3 innings of action. The win went to starter Kyle Weiland (7-9) and the save to Derrick Loop (17) for Salem (33-34, 65-71).
The second of four games in a row between the two teams is on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. at Salem Memorial Ballpark. RHP Nate Adcock (3-2, 6.16 ERA) will get the start for Lynchburg. Salem is expected to counter with RHP Dave McKae (2-6, 4.43 ERA).
