
Saints Sign Bethany Lutheran Lefty Dorris

The second half of the season begins on Tuesday, but the St. Paul Saints aren't waiting until then to shore up their pitching staff as they signed Bethany Lutheran College pitcher Ashton Dorris on Friday.
The 22-year-old left-handed pitcher was 6-3 with a 2.90 ERA, two complete games and one save in 13 games (nine starts) this season. In 59.0 innings pitched he walked 14 and struck out 63 while opponents hit .275 against him. He was named First-Team All-Conference
In 2009 he led the team going 8-0 with a 3.06 ERA and three complete games in 13 starts. In 70.2 innings pitched he walked 28 and struck out 84 while the opposition hit .223 against him.
Dorris is scheduled to make his Saints debut on Saturday night when he starts against the Wichita Wingnuts at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
The Saints roster stands at the league maximum 22 players, 11 pitchers and 11 position players.
