
Saints Select Roy Radke & Matt Roy in Dispersal Draft

DUBUQUE, IA- The Dubuque Fighting Saints have added two more players to the organization heading into the 2014-2015 season. The Fighting Saints took part in the Dispersal Draft of the Clark Cup Champion Indiana Ice's roster and affiliate list on Friday morning. Dubuque's first selection was forward Roy Radke, and with their final pick, the Fighting Saints selected defenseman Matt Roy.
Roy Radke is a product of the prestigious Shattuck-St Mary's program in Minnesota. This past season, the 6-foot-2 forward registered 40 points, including 19 goals and 21 assists, for the program's midget prep team. The 1996 born Radke shoots right, and previously played with Culver Military Academy. He is a Geneva, Illinois native and was Indiana's 8th Round selection in Phase 2 of the 2013 USHL Draft.
Matt Roy was a member of Indiana's Clark Cup Championship team this season. The Canton, Michigan native skated in 24 games with the Ice this past season, scoring four goals and five assists while registering a +11 rating. In the playoffs the 6-foot-1 Roy shined, notching six points in 12 playoff games. The 1995 born defenseman is a Michigan Tech commit and also appeared in 10 games during the 2012-2013 season for Indiana. His first USHL goal came against Dubuque on March 30, 2013.
Earlier this month, it was announced by the United States Hockey League that the Indiana Ice will not participate during the 2014-15 USHL season. Ownership of the Ice, working with the Office of the Commissioner and the USHL Executive Committee, requested and received approval from the USHL Board of Directors for the temporary withdrawal from on-ice competition in order for the organization to focus on development of new facility and permanent home for the USHL Member Club in the Indianapolis area. All players eligible to return to the USHL for the 2014-2015 season, as well as players on Indiana's affiliate list, were available to be selected in the Dispersal Draft. Forward Denis Smirnov was the first selection in the draft by Fargo.
The Dubuque Fighting Saints Camp will be held from June 4-9 at the Mystique Community Ice Center. The camp will be divided into two parts, with the Main Camp taking place from June 4-7, and a '99 Prospect Camp being held from June 7-9. More information is available at DubuqueFIghtingSaints.com
