St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN (August 19, 2010) - It's good to save the best for last. With the final homestand of the season beginning Friday, the St. Paul Saints have planned several exciting promotions for fans looking to get one last fix at Midway Stadium in 2010.
The six-game homestand begins on Friday with a three-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Is there a better way to open up the weekend than with a State Fair Preview Show? The Saints will dedicate the entire evening to items on a stick, fried foods, strollers blocking foot traffic and more! It is sure to get each and every fan in attendance ready for one of the craziest events of the summer. Plus, be sure to brush up for Metro Dentalcare Friday and spin the prize wheel near the front gate for the chance to win great prizes!
For fans who can't get enough of anything associated with cold weather, the Saints have a temporary solution - Winter in the Summer presented by Welch Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. Whether it's the comfort of scarves, sweaters, and gloves or the joys of ice fishing, skiing, and snowball fights, Saturday night will feature some of your favorite winter components. Fans are encouraged to dress the part, wearing ski boots, scarves and caps to the ballpark for a chance to win valuable prizes from Nordica. It's also Applebee's Saturday with the Saints.
Saturday also marks the Saints annual blood drive with Memorial Blood Centers. Visit the bloodmobile parked outside the front gate between 4 p.m. -7 p.m. to donate blood.
Have you ever wanted to go back in time and re-live the glory of the 80s? On Sunday, August 22, the Saints will almost take you there during a day dedicated to 1990. Don't worry, though, it was basically the 80s. Come to the ballpark clad in the neon colors, faded jeans, and awkward hair styles that made this time period so memorable - and be ready to dance to all of your favorite throwback tunes! After the game, kids run the bases and get autographs from the entire team on Mayfield Chiropractic Family Sunday.
On, Monday, the Saints will be Defending The Blanket as the team starts its final home series of the season against Sioux City. In a world where new-school inventions like the Snuggie have clouded thoughts on how to warm up, the Saints are ready to pay homage to the traditional blanket and defend its supremacy. Plus, it's 60 Simple Ways Monday presented by Xcel Energy.
On Tuesday, August 24, the Saints will celebrate Our Best Bud with a replica Bud Selig statue giveaway to the first 2,500 fans. After a season-long contest on the team's website to determine the type of statue, the team has settled on the Commissioner throwing his cap in the air, a la Mary Tyler Moore at the end of the opening credits to "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Ride the bus to the ballpark and save at the box office on Metro Transit Tuesday.
The Saints will conclude the final homestand on Wednesday night with a Fan Appreciation Fireworks Show presented by Cub Foods. The night will feature giveaways at the front gate, some of the best promotions from 2010, and a post-game fireworks show to remember. Arrive early to tailgate with Saints players and coaches on the final Walser Wednesday of the season.
Tickets may be purchased for all remaining Saints home games by calling (651) 644-6659 or visit saintsbaseball.com.
