SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Friday's game marked the three-quarters point of the season for the Dubuque Fighting Saints, but it was the first meeting between the Fighting Saints and the Sioux City Musketeers. The Fighting Saints entered the game hoping to tighten their grip on first place in the Western Conference, entering with a three point lead over the Fargo Force with three games in hand.

The Fighting Saints scored five times in the first period to grab the lead over the Musketeers. Riley Barber got the scoring started with a goal during four on four action five minutes into the first period. Barber would add another goal on the powerplay later on in the period. Zemgus Girgensons, TJ Schlueter, and Vinny Saponari would all add goals for the Fighting Saints, who were in command of the game after twenty minutes. The five goals in a period are a season high for Dubuque.

There was no scoring in the second period as the Fighting Saints maintained their 5-0 lead, taking the advantage into the third period. Both teams scored in the final frame, with John Doherty cashing in to bring the lead back to 6-1, which is how the game ended.
