Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

Forward Ben Holmstrom became the 11th former Stampede player to skate in the National Hockey League last night after being recalled by the Philadelphia Flyers and skating with the club last night in Philadelphia.

The Colorado Springs, CO native logged 8:06 in ice time in the Flyers 3-2 loss to Toronto. He played nearly half of that time with the Flyers penalty kill unit.

Prior to getting the call, Holmstrom posted 27 points on 10 goals and 17 assists while appearing in all 60 games for the Adirondack Phantoms, the Flyers top affiliate. He is fourth on the team in scoring and the only player on the roster to have not missed a game this season for the Phantoms.

Holmstrom was also reunited last night with former Stampede forward Andreas Nodl who has registered 20 points (10g, 10a) in 54 games this season. Both played in Sioux Falls together from 2004 to 2006 and were key parts in the Stampede's first ever Anderson Cup championship and Clark Cup Finals appearance. Holmstrom also played in Sioux Falls during the 2003-04 season and appeared in 125 career games. Holmstrom signed with the Flyers on March 17, 2010 as a free agent.

The Stampede return to action tonight when they face the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box in Lincoln at 7:05 PM.
