Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

Ashwaubenon, WI - Ryan Misiak's goal midway through the third period made things interesting, but the Muskegon Lumberjacks couldn't rally in a 5-1 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers at the Resch Center Friday night.

The Gamblers (36-10-2 - 74 points, first place in the Eastern Conference) struck twice in the game's first five minutes and led 3-0 with Travis Lynch capped a 2-on-1 transition by tipping a Robert Francis feed past Paul Berrafato 12:16 into the opening frame.

The Gamblers opened up their lead to four goals when C.J. Eick doubled his goal total for the season with a rebound goal at the midway point of regulation.

Misiak, a Shelby Township, Mich., native, capped a 2-on-1 transition by taking a feed from Mike Conderman and steering the puck around Ryan McKay to get the Jacks on the board midway through the third. Jacks (19-20-8 - 46 points, fifth place in the East) captain John Parker picked up the secondary assist.

But after the Jacks couldn't cash in on a pair of golden chances with the extra attacker on the ice, Sam Herr's empty-net goal sealed the game for Green Bay.

Berrafato stopped 27 of 31 shots, while McKay stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced. The Jacks went 0-for-2 on the power play, but also went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

After wrapping up a two-game trip in Bensensville, Ill., Saturday night against the Chicago Steel, the Jacks will host Team USA on Friday and Saturday before visiting Indiana on Sunday. The Jacks will host six games in all during March. Dial (231) 726-3879 for the Jacks special ticket package - a ticket for each of the six games for a total of $60, a savings of more than $20.
