St. Paul Saints News Release

KANSAS CITY, KS - Perhaps the St. Paul Saints offense just needed a long roadtrip to get things going because for the second night they pound the Kansas City T-Bones 10-4 on Saturday evening at Community America Ballpark.

One night after all nine Saints players collected at least one hit, eight of nine Saints got in on the hit parade on Saturday en route to 14 hits, for a total of 35 in two games. The top three hitters in the order collected six hits, drove in five and scored seven of the 10 runs. Justin Snyder led the offense going 3-5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Brandon Tripp continued his torrid pace collecting his third consecutive three-hit game going 3-5 with a double and two RBI.

For the second straight night the T-Bones got on the board first, but the Saints put up a four spot in the third and never looked back. Jake Krause, getting his first start of the season, doubled in his first at bat of the season. That seemed to get everyone going. Frost tripled him home and Snyder doubled home Frost making it 2-1 Saints. Shane Costa drew a walk and Jason Cooper's grounder went through first baseman Nick Farnsworth's legs scoring Snyder to make it 3-1. Costa later scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-1.

The turning point in the ballgame came in the bottom of the third when Saints starter Matt Long walked the number nine hitter, Jonathan Jaspe and then gave up an RBI double to Keanon Simon to cut the Saints lead to 4-2. With two .300 plus hitters and one .400 plus hitter coming up Long wouldn't allow another run getting Jimmy Mojica (.383) to ground out, Rico Washington (.431) to bounce back to the mound and Ray Sadler (.322) to pop out. Washington would end up going 0-4 snapping his 14 game hitting streak. Long went 7.0 innings allowing two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out five in picking up his second win of the season.

The Saints put the game away in the sixth as they sent 11 men to the plate and scored five runs. Snyder drew a bases loaded walk to make it 6-2. Costa and Cooper drove in a run each with singles and Tripp finished the scoring with a two-run single.

The Saints will look for their first sweep of the season on Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. The Saints will send LHP Donald Brandt (3-0, 0.82) to the mound against T-Bones LHP Devin Anderson (2-0, 3.79). The game can be heard live on Relevant Radio 1330.
