Saginaw Spirit Defeat Windsor Spitfires in Divisional Match Up

The Saginaw Spirit defeated the Windsor Spitfires on the road at the Windsor Family Credit Union Centre, 4-1 on Saturday night.

The Saginaw Spirit opened up the scoring against the Windsor Spitfires on a power play goal at 17:50 of the first period. Dylan Sadowy put the score at 1-0, with the help of Michael Holmes and Brandon Prophet. Saginaw led Windsor after the first period with shots on goal 15-13.

Dylan Sadowy scored his second goal of the game during the second period of play after an assist from Nick Moutrey on a power play effort at 13:35 of the period. The Spitfires retaliated later in the second with a goal by Sam Povorozniouk at 17:38 of the period. Assists on the play went to Cristinao DiGiacinto and Jalen Chatfield, making the score to 2-1 Saginaw. Saginaw Spirits third goal came off the stick of Artem Artemov for his first in the OHL at 19:29 of the period, pulling ahead of the Spitfires 3-1. Shots on goal after the second period of play favored Windsor 14-8.

Saginaw's Mitchell Webb posted the only goal of the last period early in the third on a shot at 3:28, which gave the Spirit a 4-1 lead. The Windsor Spitfires led in the final shot count 40-30.

The Saginaw Spirit will return to the Dow Event Center on Saturday, October 11th when they host the London Knights. The game against the Knights will be United Way Night and will also include a magnet schedule giveaway. Puck is set to drop at 7:11 p.m.
