Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Football Club is pleased to announce that Canada Safeway is returning as a proud supporter of Blue Bombers Football. The long-time football club sponsor is extending its commitment to Blue Bombers fans by introducing a non-drinking section.

The Safeway Touchdown Zone will be a non-drinking area consisting of three sections: Sections H, H1 and I. These sections are located in the North West corner of Canad Inns Stadium where the former Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball diamond was located. A key benefit of seats in these sections is that fans can enjoy the video presentations on the giant Jumbotron screen at the stadium.

"Safeway has been a long and outstanding partner with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg community," said Jerry Maslowsky, the Blue Bombers vice-president of sales & marketing. "Again, the football club has listened to its fans in creating a non-drinking section for families."

As in past years, fans can purchase individual game-day tickets to Blue Bomber games at 27 Safeway locations in Winnipeg and three stores in Portage la Prairie, Selkirk and Steinbach.

New to Safeway's sponsorship this year is the fact that the most affordable tickets for Blue Bombers games will only be available at Safeway locations. The Gold Zone tickets sold through Safeway will be 35% savings compared to the regular ticket price. This means fans can save almost $11.00 on one of these tickets.

"The Touchdown Zone and the savings on game-day tickets reflect our commitment to providing our customers with fun and affordable family entertainment," said John Graham, public affairs manager for Canada Safeway Ltd.

As an added benefit for fans, the tickets sold at Safeway for the June 8 pre-season game will be sold on a buy-one-get-one-free basis. The offer is only in effect for the June 8 exhibition game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders and only for the tickets sold at Safeway locations.

Safeway's individual game tickets for all 10 Winnipeg Blue Bombers home games will be available Wednesday, May 8 at all Safeway locations listed above. These will be the only individual game-day tickets available to fans until May 29. Quantities are limited so be sure to purchase your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
