BC Lions sign offensive lineman Steve Hardin

VANCOUVER, B.C. May 2, 2002 -- BC Lions General Manager, Adam Rita, today announced the signing of Offensive Lineman Steve Hardin. In keeping with team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Steve has been an important member of our offensive line," said Head Coach Steve Buratto. "He's a leader both on and off the field and I am very happy that he will continue to be part of our team."

Hardin, a 6'7" 330-pound native of Bellevue, Washington has been a member of the BC Lions since being drafted by the club in the first round (3rd overall) in the 1998 Canadian College Draft.

Hardin played in all 19 games last season. In addition to his on-field contributions, Hardin is very involved in the community. He was a former nominee for the CFL's Tom Pate Memorial Award for community service.

Prior to joining the CFL, Hardin attended camp for the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL in 1995 through 1998, and in 1996 he played in seven games for the Colts. He also played one season with the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe in 1996.

Steve Hardin attended the University of Oregon where he was an offensive captain of the Rose Bowl team in 1995.

Since 1954, the BC Lions have been Vancouver's premier professional football team appearing in seven Grey Cup Championships winning four of those contests.
