Frisco RoughRiders News Release
TULSA, OKLAHOMA (August 20, 2015) - Connor Sadzeck no-hit the Tulsa Drillers through six innings en route to his first Double-A victory on Thursday as the Frisco RoughRiders won the series finale, 2-1, at ONEOK Field. Sadzeck struck out two, walked two and needed 88 pitches over six innings.
Preston Beck wasted little time to put Frisco ahead in the first inning. The Riders' leadoff hitter belted the second pitch of the game to right field for his fifth home run.
Sadzeck dealt two perfect innings before an error allowed Erisbel Arruebarrena to reach in the third inning. Sadzeck induced a double-play to erase the mishap and a ground out to end the frame.
Frisco led 1-0 entering the fifth inning when another solo blast doubled their lead. Kellin Deglan planted one to deep right field for his first Double-A home run since his promotion from Advanced-A High Desert. The shot is Deglan's 13th this season and gave the Riders a 2-0 lead.
Sadzeck continued his dominance. He struck out Brandon Trinkwon looking as part of a perfect fifth inning and worked around a two-out walk to complete his remarkable night. The right-hander received a tremendous defensive catch from right fielder Lewis Brinson in the sixth when Yadir Drake lined one near the foul line. Brinson made the running grab to preserve the no-hit bid.
Tulsa found the hit column with two outs in the seventh inning against Jose Valdespina. The right-hander allowed a two-out walk to Brandon Dixon before Brandon Trinkwon singled to left for the Drillers first hit of the game. Tulsa starter Ross Stripling (3-4) went six innings, but allowed both home runs and took the loss.
David Martinez came into the game in the ninth inning. After back-to-back singles, Lars Anderson doubled to plate a run and Tulsa had runners on second and third with no outs. After a ground out, Martinez intentionally walked Trinkwon to load the bases before Arruebarrena bounced into a game-ending 5-4-3 double-play.
The RoughRiders (25-27, 54-68) and Drillers split the season series, with each club claiming six wins. The Riders continue their road trip with three games against the Springfield Cardinals. LHP Frank Lopez toes the rubber for the series opener on Friday at 7:05 p.m. against RHP Corey Baker. The Riders return to the Metroplex on Tuesday, August 25 to play a four-game set against San Antonio (San Diego Padres). Bring your dog to the game for Bark in the Park Night on August 26. Frisco has just seven home dates remaining in the 2015 regular season. For tickets to see the Riders in 2015, call 972-731-9200, E-mail Info@ridersbaseball.com or visit www.ridersbaseball.com.
