Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS (AUGUST 20, 2015) - The Philadelphia Phillies announced Thursday they promoted RHP Jerad Eickhoff from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to the major league roster. The Texas Rangers dealt Eickhoff to Philadelphia as part of the blockbuster trade that brought LHP Cole Hamels to Arlington. He is the 135th former RoughRider to earn a promotion to the Major Leagues.

Eickhoff, 25, appeared in 35 games over parts of three different seasons with the Frisco RoughRiders. The right-hander went 12-10 with a 4.52 ERA during his time with the Rangers' Double-A affiliate. In 2014 with Frisco, Eickhoff led all Texas farmhands and Double-A pitchers with 144 strikeouts. He completed six-plus innings in 16 of his 26 starts, including seven outings of seven-plus innings.

The Evansville, Indiana native was originally selected in the 15th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He was named the Texas League's Pitcher of the Week in May of 2014 and recently earned the same recognition in the International League with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Eickhoff began the 2015 campaign with the Riders, going 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in two starts. He was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock where he went 9-4 with a 4.25 ERA in 18 games before the July trade to Philadelphia. He is 12-5 in the minors this season with a 3.85 ERA and 126 strikeouts in 133 1/3 innings.

The five-year professional owns a career record of 44-27 with a 4.14 ERA in 117 games. Eickhoff joins former Rider Odubel Herrera to make their major league debut with the Phillies this season. Additionally, former Riders Luke Jackon, Ryan Strausborger, Joey Gallo, Hanser Alberto, Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez and Keone Kela all made their major league debuts with the Rangers this season and Wilfredo Boscan (Pirates) also made the majors for the first time.

The RoughRiders return to the Metroplex for four-games against the San Antonio Missions (San Diego Padres) on Tuesday, August 25. Bring your dog to the game for Bark in the Park Night on Wednesday August 26.
