Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Corpus Christi outfielder Ray Sadler and former Hooks starting pitcher Troy Patton were named to the 2007 Texas League Postseason All-Star Team, league president Tom Kayser announced Monday.
Sadler, 26, is batting .256 with 22 home runs and a league-leading 84 RBIs. He stands in a second-place tie with Frisco second baseman German Duran in the home run count behind Springfield outfielder Colby Rasmus' 26.
Patton, promoted to Triple-A Round Rock on Independence Day, compiled a 6-6 record and 2.99 ERA in 16 starts. He struck out 68 and walked 33 over 102 innings. The 21-year-old lefty made his Major League debut for the Houston Astros Saturday vs. Pittsburgh at Minute Maid Park.
Patton joined the Hooks in 2006 and made eight starts. He won Game 2 of the Texas League Division Series against Midland.
The team was determined through balloting by Texas League beat writers, broadcasters and field managers.
The Hooks wrap up a four-game series and eight-game road trip in San Antonio tonight. The defending Texas League champions begin a seven-game homestand Tuesday vs. Frisco at 7:05. The Missions come calling for a three-game series Saturday. Corpus Christi is currently three games behind San Antonio in the Texas League South Division second-half race.
