Tucson Padres News Release

Grant Green's two-out RBI double in the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie as the Sacramento River Cats went on to defeat the Tucson Padres, 5-2 Friday at Kino Stadium.

The River Cats took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Shane Peterson hit a two-run home run into the right field bullpen. Travis Buck responded with a two-run home run of his own in the bottom of the second to knot the score at 2-2. The home run was the fifth of the season for Buck. Later in the inning, Daniel Robertson hit an apparent RBI double, but Sacramento successfully appealed the play and first base umpire Spencer Flynn ruled that Robertson missed first base. Robertson argued the play and was ejected before the start of the third inning.

After Green's go-ahead double in the seventh, the River Cats tacked on two more runs in the top of the ninth on RBI hits from Jemile Weeks and Michael Choice. Pedro Figueroa closed out the final two innings for Sacramento to earn his first save of the season.

Mike Ekstrom won his first game for the River Cats after tossing two innings of scoreless relief. Padres reliever Brad Boxberger was charged with his third loss, surrendering the go-ahead run on three hits in two innings of work. Starting pitcher Wilfredo Boscan went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits.
