S2 Plays to First Draw of the Season in Colorado Springs

April 21, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Tacoma Defiance News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Sounders FC 2 (2-4-1, 7 points) played to its first draw of the season, a 0-0 result at Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday evening. Backed by First Team goalkeeper Calle Brown and his staunch backline, S2 secured a road point despite the very cold conditions in Colorado.

Calle Brown provides the moment of the match with a tremendous diving save in the first half (Isaiah J Downing / Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC).

Brown was spectacular in net all night long and provided the moment of the match in the 26th minute. On an attempt by Switchbacks midfielder Jordan Burt, Brown went diving to his left and saved a ball headed for the top right corner of the goal to keep the game scoreless. He made three saves on the night to lead the S2 defense.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men in the second half. S2 captain Ray Saari was given his second yellow card of the match in the 59th minute, and Colorado Springs midfielder Luke Vercollone received his second caution of the game in the 62nd minute.

S2 resumes USL action on Sunday, May 6, as the Rave Green host Sacramento Republic FC at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. Kickoff for that contest is slated for 1:30 p.m. PT (ESPN+).
