FENTON, MO. - Sounders FC 2 (4-14-2, 14 points) on Saturday night dropped a 2-0 result to Saint Louis FC (7-6-8, 29 points) at Toyota Stadium in Fenton. The home club netted both goals in the first 34 minutes of the match to record the victory.
Saint Louis got out to an early lead in the third minute when Kyle Culbertson got his own rebound off a diving save from Seattle keeper Calle Brown and found Kyle Greig who finished to Brown's left. Austin Ledbetter made it 2-0 in the 34th minute off a strike from outside the area. The tally was the first of the season for Ledbetter.
Seattle had some chances in the second half, highlighted by a rocket from Henry Wingo that dinged off the crossbar midway through the half. S2 earned a penalty kick in the 88th minute when Lamar Neagle was taken down in the box, but David Estrada's attempt was stopped by Saint Louis goalkeeper Jake Fenlason.
Seattle saw appearances from four First Team players in Tony Alfaro, Brown, Neagle and Wingo, and two Academy players in Dylan Teves and Gio Miglietti.
S2 returns to action on Saturday, August 11 at home in Tacoma against San Antonio FC (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+). It will be the first of two meetings between the teams this season, with the second set for September 29 in Texas (5:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
