
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to Attend Team Canada Development Camp

Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Barons centerman Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has decided he will attend Team Canada's development camp in advance of the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championship.
Nugent-Hopkins, a 6-1, 175-pounder from Burnaby, British Columbia, was the #1 overall selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He was assigned to Oklahoma City in mid-September by the Edmonton Oilers. He has played in 19 games with Oklahoma City and scored 20 points (8-12-20). Those 20 points put him 20th in the Amercian Hockey League scoring race.
At 19 years of age, Nugent-Hopkins has the opportunity to represent his country at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Under-20 tournament known as the World Junior Championship. Nine players on the Barons roster have represented their countries in the World Junior Championships. They included Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, Colten Teubert, Olivier Roy, and Curtis Hamilton for Team Canada, Magnus Paajarvi and Anton Lander for Team Sweden, Teemu Hartikainen for Team Finland and Martin Marincin for Team Slovakia.
Nugent-Hopkins joins 36 additional players at the Team Canada development camp in Calgary starting Monday. The 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia begins December 26.
After a road game tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m., the Oklahoma City Barons return to Cox Convention Center ice on Tuesday, December 11 against the Peoria Rivermen. December 14 and 15, they tangle at home with the San Antonio Rampage. All three games start at 7 p.m.
Following the game Friday, fans the opportunity to shoot for a free ham from Schwab Meats. Saturday is the Barons' fifth car giveaway of the season and the first 2,000 fans through the doors receive a free Barons scarf.
