Ryan Johansen to Remain with Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today that center Ryan Johansen will remain with the NHL club.

Johansen has played nine games with Columbus, and his first-year contract becomes guaranteed upon playing his 10th game. In his nine games for Columbus, Johansen has registered two goals and two assists for four points. His first NHL point was an assist at Ottawa on Oct. 22, and his first NHL goal came on Oct. 25 vs. Detroit.

Last season, Johansen was named the Winterhawks' MVP with 40 goals and 52 assists for a team-high 92 points. He then led the team with 28 points in 21 playoff games, and was named MVP of the Western Conference Finals. He also won a silver medal with Canada at the World Junior Championship. The Blue Jackets selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft.
