ROUND ROCK, Texas – The 95-degree temperature wasn't the only heat at The Dell Diamond Saturday afternoon, because there was a fair amount coming from the pitcher's mound as well.

Hall of Famer and Round Rock Express co-owner Nolan Ryan faced ten new faces today in the finals of the Baby Ruth Real Deal Fan Search. Ten lucky fans from across the nation got the chance to face Big Tex for three swings, although they were mostly ineffective swings.

Ryan ended up throwing about 60 pitches and showed he still had the arm that made him the Major League's Strikeout King. His fastball still had plenty of pop and his curveball had more than enough bend in it.

There were plenty of whiffs and a few foul balls. There were even a couple of swings that made solid contact. 56-year old Round Rock native Bill Bellman did come through with what would have been a clean single to right field, right above the mythical second baseman's head.

"This was a dream," Bellman said. "I played some high school ball, but I've never seen anything like that before. To get the chance to do this was incredible."
