Cory Vance threw a complete game shutout as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox beat the Memphis Redbirds 3-0 on Friday night. Vance dominated the Redbird hitters as he allowed 5 singles on the night as well as striking out 7. The Sox offense pounded out 12 hits as Brent Butler and David Newhan led the attack with 3 hits apiece. Pablo Ozuna and Clint Barmes each added 2 hits. With his 2 singles Barmes now has a 9 game hitting streak as well as hitting safely in 15 of his last 16 games. Earlier in the season Barmes recorded a Sox season high 15 game-hitting streak. These two teams meet up again on Saturday when Jesus Sanchez (2-0, 4.22) makes a spot start for the Sox against Steve Stemle (6-10, 3.38) of Memphis.
