Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas – August has not been kind to the Round Rock Express power numbers. In 14 games coming into Saturday night's contest with the Wichita Wranglers, the Express had a total of one round tripper.

Dax Norris finally broke down the mythical glass wall in the outfield with a second inning home run, though, and Jacques Landry added one of his own to give the Express a 6-2 win in front of 10,368 at The Dell Diamond.

Down 1-0 in the second, Norris provided a long due shot of energy with his sixth homer of the year, and a three-run shot at that. Landry followed that up with a towering blast to left in the fourth that just got over the glove of leftfielder Marco Cunningham.

That started a promising trend for Round Rock as half of the 12 hits on the night went for extra bases. Landry almost became the first Express player to hit for the cycle, missing just a double.

That provided enough to give Nick Roberts his first win since his opening start with the Express June 23. Roberts deftly worked in out of jams in allowing only one run on six hits in seven strong innings to move to 2-7.

Garrett Lee (5-9) took the loss after allowing five runs in 5.2 innings

The third game of the four-game series will be Sunday at 7:05 p.m.
