Ruwe Leads Rockford over RedHawks, 6-3

FARGO, ND - The Rockford RiverHawks defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 6-3 on a gorgeous Wednesday evening in front of 3,657 fans at Newman Outdoor Field.

The RiverHawks (17-20) received a great effort from starting pitcher Kyle Ruwe (2-4). Ruwe tossed seven innings, scattering eight hits and allowing just three runs. He also struck out one and walked one. Jon Huizinga pitched two innings of one-hit ball to record his first save of the season for Rockford.

Fargo-Moorhead (22-14) starter Jake Laber (3-2) was saddled with the loss despite throwing his second complete game of the season. He allowed six runs (five earned) on ten hits while striking out seven and walking one RiverHawk hitter.

Rockford pulled away in the sixth inning, scoring three runs in the frame. Patrick O'Sullivan and Evan McArthur had RBI singles in the sixth for the RiverHawks while first baseman Rich Austin added an RBI double. McArthur was 3-for-4 on the night with a pair of RBI. Austin also drove in two and scored twice for Rockford.

Jesse Hoorelbeke and Jay Cox each collected a pair of hits and third baseman Eric Campbell hit his eighth home run of the season for Fargo-Moorhead.

The RedHawks continued their poor fielding in the game, committing two errors and bringing their total in the series against Rockford to ten.

The two teams will wrap up their four-game set tomorrow afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 12:30pm. Rockford will send Mike Wood (0-3, 3.43) to the mound while T.J. Stanton (1-2, 0.74) will look to end a two-game losing skid for Fargo-Moorhead.
