Flyers Drop Series to T-Bones

June 30, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Schaumburg Flyers News Release

Schaumburg, IL - The Flyers (14-25) couldn't solve Kansas City starter Cody McAllister (4-2) all afternoon and fell 6-0 to the T-Bones (24-16) at Alexian Field.

Kansas City got on the board right off the bat against Schaumburg starter Alain Quijano (1-5) with a Jacob Blackwood two run home run into the party deck in the top of the first.

The T-Bones would put four more on the board in the fifth, starting with a Dwayne White single. Keith Hernandez and Jimmy Mojica both laid down bunts, but Flyers third baseman Brandon Newton couldn't handle the first and threw the second into right field, allowing White and Hernandez to score. Keanon Simon laced a double to deep left center to plate another and Blackwood singled in Simon for his third RBI of the afternoon, pushing the lead to 6-0.

Quijano performed well, pitching into the seventh, allowing four earned runs, and recording a season high 11 strikeouts with no walks. But the offense sputtered, collecting just four hits off of McAllister and getting just two runners in scoring position the entire game.

The Kansas City starter tossed his first career complete game, shutting out the Flyers and picking up a season high ten strikeouts in the process.

McAllister picked up the win while Quijano was charged with the loss.

The Flyers conclude their four game set with the T-Bones at Alexian Field Thursday night. It's '80s Night at the ballpark and tribute band Voyage will be playing pre-game in the concourse to start the evening off right.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Join Alex Perlman on 1410 WRMN and flyersbaseball.com for all the action as the Flyers take on the T-Bones. The Schaumburg Flyers Pregame Show gets rolling at 6:50 PM with the game to follow.
