WHEELING, WV â The Wheeling Nailers announce today that forward Bobby Russell has been recalled by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.
Russell played for the Nailers Friday night in Cincinnati and had two goals in the 5-3 win. One of his goals was even strength and one was shorthanded and he was named the games number one star of the game.
Russell has appeared in 20 games for the Nailers this season and has 19 points on 15 goals and four assists. Russell leads the Nailers in goals scored with his 15. Of his goals he has three on the power play and leads the team with four while shorthanded. Russell is also leading the Nailers in the +/- category with a +6 rating. In 17 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, he has two goals and is playing at a +1. One of his goals with the Penguins was a game-winning goal.
The Nailers next game is Wednesday, January 29 in Richmond. The Nailers return home on Friday, January 31 against the Augusta Lynx. Game time at the Wheeling Civic Center is 7:30p.m. It will be Mascot Night with several area Mascots in attendance to provide entertainment throughout the game.
