
Russell picked UIF Special Teams Player of the Week for second time

June 23, 2005 - Omaha - NE - United Indoor Football is proud to announce Players-of-the-Week awards for week 14 of the 2005 season. Outstanding player performances will be recognized throughout the year and weekly awards will be announced every Wednesday. Weekly awards are presented in three categories: Offense, Defense and Special Teams.
Week 14 awards in the Special Teams category is Peoria's Matt Russell, this is Matt's second Player-of-the-Week award as he won back in week 4 also. Russell, a 5'11", 190 pound graduate of Ohio State University, was 8 for 8 on point after attempts and had two made field goals, one from 23 yards and another from 39 yards at home against Tupelo Saturday June 18th. The Rough Riders kicker scored a total of 14 points in the winning effort Saturday night. Russell and the Rough Riders will host the Fort Wayne Freedom on Saturday, June 25. The Rough Riders are offering half price tickets for their remaining 3 games on June 25th, July 16th and 23rd.
"The addition of a veteran kicker proved it's worth in helping solidify our kicking game and brought a lot of confidence to the rest of the squad members," said Peoria Rough Rider Head Coach Bruce Cowdrey.
