FireAnts gear up for BlueCats

TUPELO, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts (3-9) take on the Evansville BlueCats (5-6) tomorrow, Friday, June 24th in their regular season home finale at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo starting at 7:30pm.

This is the second of three meetings between the FireAnts and BlueCats this season, with Tupelo winning the first match-up 62-51 on Friday, April 7 in the Hill.

On the field, Tupelo's offense is led by quarterback Tommy Miller who is second in the league in yards passing, with 1,552. His main targets are wideouts Laquonne Holden (41 receptions - 282 yards - 4TD and Chris Edwards (18-106-3). The ground game will feature Buster Browne and Chris Edwards, who have combined on 74 carries for 217 yards and 5 touchdowns this season. Tupelo's leading rusher is quarterback Tommy Miller, with 158 yards on the ground this season. The offensive line is anchored by James Bridges and Terrance Ware in addition to former Southern Miss Golden Eagle Kendrick Key, who will be making his debut on Friday. The defensive line is led by Patrick Craig (22 tackles, 2 sacks) and Mancell Elam (19 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss). The linebackers are Ricky Franklin (67 tackles, 2 interceptions), and John Mannino (21 tackles). Tupelo's defensive backs are Terrell Sutton, Tyson Patterson, and Michael Gholar, who have combined for 90 tackles and 13 interceptions. The placekicker is Charlie Herbert, a former Calgary Stampeder in the Canadian Football League.

Off the field, it's Military Appreciation Night, presented by Sonic Drive-In. During the game, the FireAnts will honor local men and women serving in the Armed Forces, as well as their families. As a bonus, Armed Forces personnel that present their military ID at the BancorpSouth Center Box Office will receive one free upper level ticket, courtesy of Sonic Drive-In.
