Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - The Missouri Mavericks were too much for the Rapid City Rush on Wednesday night, earning a 5-1 win to secure the series victory 4-2, ending Rapid City's season. The Rush's lone goal came from all-time leading scorer, Scott Wray who also led the Rush in both goals and points during the playoff run. This marks the second-straight season that the Rush have been eliminated in game 6 of the opening round, having lost to the Fort Wayne Komets last year.

Missouri would net the opening goal 9:44 into the game when Kellan Tochkin punched in his first of the game on a breakaway. The Mavericks kept it rolling as Sebastien Thinel doubled the lead at 11:49 with a slapshot from the left circle, giving Missouri the 2-0 lead.

The Rush offense would capitalize in the second period while on the power play as Scott Wray buried a shot from the right circle after a pass from Kyle Peto at 5:28. Thinel potted his second goal of the night following precision passing on a 3-on-2 chance, regaining the two-goal advantage at 11:02. At 16:56, Tochkin also notched his second goal of the night, ending the night for Rush goaltender Tim Boron and lifting the Mavericks to the 4-1 lead by second intermission.

In the third period, Kenton Miller gave the Mavericks a comfortable four-goal lead at 7:30. Despite a valiant effort, the Rush would fall 5-1 to the Missouri Mavericks as the 2012-13 season comes to a close.
