April 10, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
GLENDALE, AZ (April 10, 2013) - The Central Hockey League's newest franchise announced today that they will be known as the Brampton Beast. After an extensive Name Your Team contest that saw roughly 2,000 unique entries, and over 3,000 different people submitting votes, the Beast was selected by the people of Brampton.
"We are very excited to have Brampton in the Central Hockey League and to see how they engaged their fan base with such a successful contest," said Duane Lewis, Central Hockey League Commissioner. "The Beast is a great selection for a name and will be one the fans can really embrace as a powerful, unique brand."
The name comes from a group of finalists selected that included Bandits, Blizzard, Vipers and North Stars but the Beast had overwhelming support and finished the contest with the most votes.
The team will be hosting an official team launch at their home, the Powerade Centre, in the coming weeks to introduce their team colors and logo.
