Allen/Missouri Conference Semifinals Series Set

GLENDALE, AZ (April 10, 2013) - The CHL's Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Conference Semifinals are set with the four teams determined that will compete for the Cup. Already this evening, one half of the Conference Semifinals got underway as the second seeded Wichita Thunder began their best-of-7 series with the third seeded Fort Worth Brahmas. The second best-of-7 series has been finalized and it will feature the Bud Poile Governors' Cup Champion Allen Americans and the fifth seeded Missouri Mavericks and it will get underway on Sunday in the Allen Event Center.
During the regular season, the Americans went 39-18-9 (87 points) and the Mavericks posted a 35-25-6 mark (76 points). In the head-to-head series, the teams split six games including splitting four games in Allen and two games in Missouri.
The Americans are looking to advance to their second CHL Finals (2010) in their fourth season as a franchise. The Mavericks also began in the CHL during the 2009-10 season as an expansion brother to Allen and last season they advanced the furthest in their short history making it to Game 7 of the Conference Finals (lost to the eventual champion Fort Wayne).
Allen makes their way to the semifinals thanks to a four games to one Opening Round series win over the Denver Cutthroats and thanks to a four-game win streak to close out that series. The Mavs went to a Game 6 against the Rapid City Rush in their Opening Round series and like the Americans, won four straight games to close out the series including a series clinching victory in Rapid City on Wednesday night (5-1).
