(Rapid City, SD) - Tuesday night, the Rapid City Rush hit the ice against the Wichita Thunder in the 35th all-time meeting between the two teams. It would be the rookie Jeff Lee who would open the scoring for the Rush 12:50 into the opening frame, potting his second goal of the year on a bullet from the slot.

The Thunder would leave the locker room aiming to tie the score in the second frame, and they did so when Todd Griffith notched an unassisted goal just 57 seconds into the period. Wichita would out-shoot the Rush 17-5, but outstanding goaltending by Tim Boron would keep the game tied at one apiece heading into the second intermission.

After nearly 45 minutes of scoreless hockey, the game would be decided in a shootout. Damian Surma hit the lone goal for the Rush while Todd Griffith and Kevin Young converted to lift the Thunder to a 2-1 shootout win.
