Rapid City Rush News Release
(Prescott Valley, AZ) - The Rapid City Rush kicked-off a three-game road trip with a 2-1 win over the Arizona Sundogs on Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center. Rookie Jeff Lee and Veteran Jarrett Konkle provided the goals as the Rush jumped into 4th-place. The Rush and Sundogs take to the ice again tomorrow at 7:05pm and the game can be heard live on 100.3 the FOX or foxradio.com.
The Rush broke a scoreless tie twelve minutes into the second period with the third goal of the season for rookie Jeff Lee. After a cycle by Rusty Masters, Lee took the puck from the half wall to the slot where he sent a backhand just over the glove of Adam Russo for the lone goal of the opening 40 minutes. The Rush set a season-high with 22 shots in the middle frame, outshooting the Sundogs 22-5.
Just over three minutes into the third period, the Rush collected a much-needed insurance goal when Jarrett Konkle backhanded in his team-leading 12th goal of the season to make it 2-0. With nine minutes remaining, Arizona cut the lead in half with a goal from Pascal Morency that was set up by Chad Langlais.
Despite a late powerplay chance by the Sundogs, the Rush were able to hold on for the 2-1 win, improving their record to 10-7-4.
