Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - At Saturday's St. Patrick's Day celebration at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, the Rapid City Rush completed a weekend sweep and over the Evansville IceMen with a 3-2 triumph. A sold out crowd saw the Rush earn their fourth straight win and sixth in their last seven games. The victory means Rapid City has pulled to within two points of Evansville and just three points of the first-place Komets. The Rush now take on the Bloomington Blaze on Monday the 19th and Tuesday the 20th in the final home games of the regular season. Tickets are available by calling 716-7825 or online at www.gotmine.com .

After a scoreless first period, the Rush and IceMen each picked up a goal in the middle frame. The first came at 8:14 when Konrad Reeder scored his team-leading 37th of the season with a wrist shot from the bottom of the right circle. The IceMen evened the game when John Ronan collected his second of the weekend, capitalizing on a turnover with a slapshot from the slot with less than five minutes left.

Midway through the final period, the IceMen gained their first lead of the game with a goal from Todd Robinson who became the first player in the league to reach the 90-point mark. However, on the following shift, Anthony Perdicaro's blue-collar effort, tied the score at 2-2. With a rebound sitting at the top of the crease, Perdicaro dove past an IceMen defender and one-handed in his 9th of the season at the 12:29 mark. Less than two minutes later, after a scramble at the goal-mouth, a loose puck found its way to Jesse Schultz who potted his 23rd of the season for the eventual game-winner. Immediately following the goal, an ugly fracas ensued after Evansville defenseman Steve Makway cross-checked Schultz across the head, igniting two separate fights and numerous penalties. Nonetheless, the Rush held on for the 3-2 win and finish the season-series with the IceMen at 6-1-0.

Tim Boron turned aside 20 shots for his 22nd win of the season and has now backstopped the Rush to four-wins this week alone.

Rapid City's penalty kill came up big again, denying all four of Evansville's chances, making the unit perfect over the last seven games.
