Rapid City Rush News Release

(Loveland, CO) - The Rapid City Rush found themselves in another high-scoring, hard fought game with the Colorado Eagles, and for the second straight night, the Eagles came out on top with a shootout victory. The special teams were key as there were seven power-play goals scored in the contest that ended up in a 5-4 win for Eagles.

It seemed to be the same script from Friday night as the Rush got out to a 2-0 lead early in the first period. Scoring the opening tally of the game was Rich Hansen on the power-play at the 8:14 mark of the first period. Gio Flamminio picked up the first assist as he fed it across to Hansen, as Garret Prosofsky also picked up an assist on the play. One minute and forty seconds later, Chris Di Ubaldo extended the lead for Rapid City as precision passing set up another power-play marker. Flamminio controlled the puck at the point and was able to feed it down to Hansen who one-timed it to the slot to Di Ublaldo who buried the puck past Eagles Goaltender Morgan Cey. Colorado was able to cut the lead in half at the 15:27 mark with a goal from Ed McGrane with the assists coming from Scott Polaski and Ryan Tobler. The first stanza finished with the Rush up 2-1 and leading in the shot category 12-10.

The second period was all Colorado as Konrad Reeder tallied a power-play goal in his first game as an Eagle just 1:48 of the second with Reeder skating in his first game as an Eagle since he was acquired in a trade with New Mexico. After that, Colorado captain Greg Pankewicz evened the score at two apiece with a power-play goal of his own at the 5:42 mark with Riley Nelson and Scott Polaski getting the assists. Colorado was able to dominate the shot category in the second by a 17-8 margin.

The third period encapsulated the weekend between the two squads as it was back and forth action. Rapid City started the scoring as R.G. Flath picked up a goal 6:43 into the period off of a rebound with the newest addition to the Rush, Les Reaney picking up the primary assist and Flamminio getting his third helper of the game. After that, the Rush found themselves in the penalty box again and the Eagles took advantage as Ed McGrane got his second of the game to give Colorado the lead. It took the Rush until the 19:18 mark of the third period to answer the call as Hansen netted his second of the game off of a rebound with Flamminio grabbing his fourth point on the night.

After the overtime period went scoreless, the Eagles were able to come out on top in the shootout as the only player to convert for the Rush was R.G. Flath. Sealing the game for Colorado was Scott Polaski as only he, and the first shooter, Kevin Ulanski scored for Colorado.

On the night, the Rush power-play went 3-for-11 as the Eagles went 4-for-9 with the man advantage. Shots for the evening were 42 to 35 in favor of the Eagles with Rush goaltender Miguel Beaudry making 37 saves and Eagle netminder Morgan Cey making 31 in the game.

The Rapid City Rush take on the Corpus Christi Rayz on Friday night at 7:05 and all games can be heard on 100.3 the FOX.
