Arizona Sundogs News Release

After sweeping the Colorado Eagles en route to the 2008 CHL Ray Miron President's Cup title, Arizona (0-2-0) is currently riding a two-game winless streak and has started the season at 0-2-0 for the first time in franchise history.

Sundogs Storylines:

- Sundogs forward Joel Irving and veteran defenseman Chris Bartolone lead the way in scoring for Arizona with two points each. Irving tallied a goal in each of the Sundogs' losses this past weekend while Bartolone collected an assist in each contest.

- The Sundogs had the best power play unit in the league last season at 26.82%, just .70 percentage points shy of the CHL record (27.5% - Columbus 1996-97). Early on this season, the Sundogs have struggled with the man advantage, converting on just 2-of-23 opportunities (8.70%).

- The Arizona Sundogs had the league's most potent offense last season, scoring an average of 4.59 goals per game. No other team eclipsed the four goal average, with Colorado's 3.97 average being the second highest in the league. Arizona's offense was held in check during opening weekend, tallying three goals in two contests against Odessa.

- Last year, Arizona was 3-3 against the New Mexico Scorpions at Tim's Toyota Center, 1-2-1 against Colorado at the Budweiser Events Center, and 2-0-2 against Rocky Mountain in the Broomfield Events Center. If last year was any indication, there could be overtime action between Rocky Mountain and Arizona, as the two teams went to the extra session five out of the seven times they matched up last year.
