Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (30-25-4-0) collected their 30th win of the season on Thursday night, taking down the Adirondack Thunder, 2-0. Forwards Jordan Sims and Tommy Mele scored the goals for the Cyclones, while goaltender Joel Rumpel was perfect on the night, stopping all 46 shots he faced to earn his second shutout of the season.

The Cyclones struck late in the first when forward Shawn O'Donnell sent a pass from the right corner to Sims in front of the net, and he banked it in off of Thunder goaltender Mason McDonald to give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead, 17:08 into the period.

Cincinnati took their 1-0 lead into the locker room after the first, and in the second the Cyclones added to their lead early in the frame when a wraparound attempt from forward Shane Walsh was turned aside by McDonald who was diving through the crease, but Mele was at the left circle and buried the rebound to put Cincinnati ahead, 2-0, after two periods.

The Thunder ramped up the offensive pressure in the third, outshooting Cincinnati 18-2 in the frame. Despite the offensive onslaught, Rumpel remained cool under pressure and preserved the 2-0 shutout win.

The win moves the Cyclones into the fourth and final playoff spot in the ECHL's South Division, and the two sides wrap up their season series on Saturday night at 7:35pm ET.
