TONIGHT: The Binghamton Rumble Ponies and Yard Goats continue the final series of the season.
LAST TIME OUT: The Rumble Ponies won the series opener against the Yard Goats 4-2 Friday night. Dustin Houle tied the game at one in the fourth with an RBI double. The Ponies took the lead in the seventh on an Andres Gimenez two-out RBI single. Edgardo Fermin stole home as part of a double steal to make it 3-1. Scott Burcham pulled the Goats back within one in the eighth with a pinch-hit RBI single. Houle gave the Ponies an insurance run in the eighth with an RBI single. Adonis Uceta tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
PETERSON'S SHARP OUTING: David Peterson went 6.2 innings and allowed just one unearned run on three hits and no walks. He struck out a season-high 10 and at one point retired 16 consecutive batters.
HOULE'S BIG NIGHT: Dustin Houle registered his first three-hit night of the season Friday as he went 3-4 with two RBI. It was his second multi-RBI game, both of which have come in his last four games.
3-2-1 FOR GIMENEZ: Andres Gimenez smacked three hits with two stolen bases and one RBI in Friday's win. He knocked in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh. The Ponies' shortstop has gotten a hit in seven of the last eight games and is hitting .353 (12-34) with five RBI.
UCETA EXTENDS SHUTOUT STREAK: Adonis Uceta earned his seventh save of the year with a perfect ninth inning Friday. It was his 12th straight scoreless appearance. He has not allowed a run since July 15. Since then he has pitched 17.2 scoreless frames with 16 strikeouts, eight hits, and no walks.
BINGHAMTON BASEBALL SHRINE INDUCTION: To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Binghamton Mets' 1994 Eastern League championship, Jason Isringhausen and Bill Pulsipher are being inducted into the Binghamton Baseball Shrine Presented by IBM. Isringhausen played with Binghamton for parts of the 1994 and 1995 seasons before playing 16 seasons in the Majors. Pulsipher was in Binghamton in 1994 and 1997 and played in the Majors for six years. They were part of the trio known as "Generation K," along with RHP Paul Wilson.
DENNIS DELIVERS AT THE DISH: Hartford's starter Matt Dennis is 4-6 with a home run and two RBI in two games against the Ponies. On August 10 at Dunkin' Donuts Park, he smacked a two-run home run, his only long ball of the season. Six days later at NYSEG Stadium, Dennis went 3-4 with two runs scored.
COMING UP: The Ponies and Yard Goats play the third game of their four-game series Sunday at 6:35 PM. LHP Thomas Szapucki makes his second Double-A start and faces righty Ashton Goudeau.
