Ruiz and Longmire tabbed All-Star reserves

Sioux City, Iowa --- Fargo-Moorhead manager Doug Simunic has announced that pair of Sioux City Explorers have been selected for the Northern League All-Star game as reserves. Simunic chose X's center fielder Ryan Ruiz, and catcher/DH Marcel Longmire to join his squad at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, IL. The All-Star game will take place on July 20th.

Ruiz is currently batting .331 this season, and is tied for the team lead in hits with 60. He has recorded eight doubles and a pair of triples to compliment his 17 RBI this season. Ruiz is currently second in the Northern League in stolen bases as he has successfully swiped 20 of 25 bases this season.

Longmire has been a pleasant surprise for the X's since taking the 2003 campaign off. The Vallejo, California native is batting .341 this season, ninth on the Northern League charts. So far he has scored 33 runs and is tied for the team lead in hits with Ruiz. He has also recorded 14 doubles and seven homeruns to go along with his 40 RBI. Longmire has successfully swiped eight-of-ten bases this year.

The X's will open a three-game series with the Gary Southshore Railcats this evening as they close out the first half of the season.
