Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs center J.C. Ruid was named the United Hockey League's Sher-Wood Player of the Week for Week 1 of the UHL season. The UHL made the announcement on Monday. Ruid helped the IceHogs capture a pair of wins over the first weekend of the 2004-05 season. The 6'-4" center accumulated 5g-1a-6pts and had a plus/minus rating of +7. Ruid began is barrage on Friday night with 2g-1a against the Quad City Mallards, helping lead the Hogs to a 8-4 win over their division rivals. The pivot man also racked up a +3 in the winning effort.

Saturday was more of the same for Ruid against the Kalamazoo Wings. Ruid notched a hat-trick, scoring three of the IceHogs four goals in a 4-2 victory over the Wings. Rockford's captain also had an impressive +4 for the night.

To go along with his six points, Ruid also made some noise with a thundering hit on Kalamazoo's Tim Turner in the third period Saturday. The IceHogs marketing campaign is Smash Hit Hockey this season, and Ruid displayed just that when he shattered a piece of plexi-glass, moments after he scored the game tying goal.
